Live illustration, also known as live fashion illustration or live portraiture has grown immensely in popularity over the past few years.
In my experience as a live fashion illustrator London has always been a key location. I’ve worked with Vogue London’s Fashion Night Out, done live portrait illustration for Reiss at Harrods, and provided live fashion illustration for Ultimo at House of Fraser. I have illustrated for Follie Folli at Selfridges, whilst for Links of London I undertook live portrait illustration at their corporate anniversary party. Other live illustration clients have included Juicy Couture, Wella and Oasis. Of course I’m happy to work outside London and I offer live fashion illustration UK wide – I have illustrated at some fantastic locations in and out of London. There are many different kinds of events in which to explore the power of live drawing.
What live illustration brings to an event
How does an event benefit from live fashion illustration? It’s a great question and as a live illustrator I can tell you that the key ingredients a live illustrator adds to any function are personalisation, memorability and a sense of occasion. Let’s take them one at at time:
Live illustration is much more personal that a photograph. It captures the essence of a person or event, and as such creates a greater bond between the individual and the occasion they are attending. Each illustration is completely customised for every lucky customer.
While few of us can remember having our photograph taken at an event, nobody ever forgets having themselves captured through live illustration: it creates an indelible positive memory of the event.
- A sense of occasion
Hiring a live fashion illustrator London or UK-wide, will give your event a certain cachet, an air of being a true celebration which is being recorded in a very special way.
For all these reasons, having live illustration at your next special occasion will truly bring your event to life.
Working with Alison Hansen – live fashion illustrator UK
As a live illustrator London and UK-wide, I’ve had a wide range of experience at live events ranging from corporate publicity, in-store launches, press events, company parties and advertising campaigns. I have also illustrated at more personal occasions such as weddings, birthday parties and prom nights. Live illustration requires a set of key skills – foremost of which is the ability to create beautiful illustrations quickly and against the clock, with an audience watching the entire process. Not everybody can produce consistently fast and good live illustration throughout an evening.
My illustrations take between five and ten minutes each. As well as providing quality illustrations that capture the moment, it’s just as important to be personable and to be able to interact with those present in a friendly and pleasant manner.
It’s been my pleasure to help great brands and individuals to celebrate special occasions by adding my live illustration skills to their event, and I’m sure I can do the same for you – please view my live fashion illustration portfolio of examples and contact me to see how I can help turn your next event into a very special occasion.
