Bridal illustrations for Pippa Middleton’s wedding
A couple of weeks ago I was asked by PR company Stickyeyes if I would be interested in working on some bridal illustrations about Pippa Middleton’s upcoming wedding. In case you have been living off grid for the past few years, Pippa Middleton is the younger sister of Kate Middleton, who is married to Prince William. Pippa shot to fame at Kate’s wedding in 2011, when she played a big part as the Maid of Honour. For this bridal illustrations project, national printing company Solopress had conducted a survey of the great British public to see what they would predict Pippa’s dream wedding would look like. I was commissioned to provide the wedding illustrations for the project, to display what the wedding survey results were. The illustrations were to be released to various digital news outlets.
A tight deadline for the Pippa’s bridal illustrations
The client wanted simple pen and ink bridal illustrations with watercolour. They wanted illustrations to represent Pippa’s dress, her bouquet, her wedding cake, the invitations, the place settings, the bridesmaids and pageboy outfits, and Pippa’s evening dress. All in all there were 12 bridal illustrations to do in only three days which was a little tight to say the least! As a fashion illustrator a lot of my projects involve specific deadlines, but this one was exceptionally tight. The reason for this was that the survey results were processed on the Tuesday and the bridal illustrations were due in on the Friday. The client provided all of the reference pictures but I still had to do quite a lot of reference photo searching, to really gain some strong reference photographs from which to base the wedding illustrations off. I provided the client with all twelve separate illustrations and also a really fun wedding moodboard that could be used in many media outlets. The moodboard was included in Brides Magazine’s online website. It was a beautiful project to work on and it was very gratifying to see my illustrations on Brides magazines website. Have a look and see what you think of my bridal illustrations for Pippa’s Wedding.
