An exciting Live Illustration opportunity with Juicy Couture
Being a live illustrator for Juicy Couture
Last month it was Vogue Loves Regent St. Fashion’s Night Out. This takes place every September, and is a celebration of London’s shopping scene. Most stores offer drink, nibbles and a nice store discount. It’s usually a really hopping night with a great atmosphere as lots of the shops also have special events on. Juicy Couture contacted me to see if I would be interested in taking part in providing live illustration in their Regent Street store. Of course my answer was yes ! Live illustration adds a great buzz to any store event. It’s also good for corporate parties or press days and product launches.
The Live Illustration Event kicks off
I got to the store at about 5 pm, in order to set up my table. Already there was a real buzz going on. It was an absolutely beautiful autumn day in London, and all of the great events going on made the day even more special. As soon as the live fashion illustration kicked off there was a huge queue going all the way to the back of the store. It was pretty much nose to paper for three hours in order to fit everybody in that wanted an illustration. It was fun though, due to the incredible party atmosphere and of course the lovely cocktails on offer! Below you can see a sample of some of the live illustration I did. It’s a really fun job working as a live illustrator, and I enjoy every event I do more than the last !
Great Outfits for Live Fashion Illustration
I have to say all the lovely ladies I met that night and had the pleasure of illustrating all had the most individual and stylish outfits on. This made it a real treat to draw. The outfits were all so colourful, and it made it all so interesting. I used a mix of pen and ink, and pencil crayons too, to add a splash of colour. As with any live fashion illustration event, you have to think fast about which features of a person and their outfit you are going to zoom in on. Everyone has their own individual look, which I always try to convey in my live illustration. Here are a couple of pictures of me hard at work! Of course it’s not all work but also incredibly fun working as a live illustrator.
All in all it was a really great evening. Everyone was really nice and in a great party mood. I had to stay longer than my stint due to the demand of live illustrations needed and the length of the queue ! I didn’t mind though, all in a night’s work as a Live Fashion Illustrator.
